Jack London Inn

We stayed at the Jack London Inn for 3 nights during our road trip and everything was very good for the price that we paid. The staff was very nice and always available for questions and requests. Breakfast was very good, again for the price we paid for staying there. The location is very central to the ferry that will take you to SF. Many thanks!

The only bad thing is location next to train station but can be fixed if you're staying a couple nights. Just go down the street to get ear plugs at Walgreens

I stay there often. The staff are outstanding, especially the front desk. The cleaning crew excels at what they do and are always polite and gracious. Same with maintenance. They're kept very busy, but if you're patient, they will completely fix any problems a room might have. Budget hotels in Oakland all fall around the same price point, but with Jack London Inn, it feels like they go an extra mile.

This is literally the best hotel I've ever stayed at! The herons outside my window were the most awesome herons I've ever met; they were staring benevolently at me while sleeping, and were presumably responsible for the absence of burglaries during my stay, which was amazing. Much better experience than the average birds u find at other places. The coffee machine in the room was amazing, producing very unique results very consistently. The floor was cleaned but not over-cleaned, which I really like because it adds an authentic smell to each room. 5/5 stars! I would spend the rest of my life here if I could. The price could have been lower, but definitely worth it.

Was absolutely blown away by my experience at Jack London Inn! Looked a little run down from the photos and the lobby/elevator are showing their age, but the rooms are clean, spacious, and well stocked. Also, a very special shoutout and HUGE thank you to Mr. Singh! I arrived at 11AM after leaving my last hotel with two unhappy cats in their carriers, and Mr. Singh was gracious enough to not only expedite a room well before the 3PM check-in so we could get them safe, but even offered to let me and the kittens sit IN HIS OFFICE until the room was ready so we wouldn't bother the other guests with their loud meowing. I had a hell of a travel day, was exhausted, and he didn't even know me but was still gracious and kind enough to let us rest in his office until the room was cleaned. I've traveled all over the world and I"m not sure I've ever been met with such warm hospitality as Mr. Singh showed today. Absolute gem of a man and a fantastic stay all around. Don't let the photos fool you, this is one of the best deals in Oakland and we even got a view of the Marina to boot!

It's a budget friendly hotel right by Jack London Square. What more could you ask for? Maybe some of the negative reviewers got confused by the room telephone and thought they were staying at the Marriott Marquis.

Rooms are not super clean. The while place is a little grimy. The staff was fantastic. The location is perfect. The price was great. Would definitely stay there again.

I stay in a lot of hotels, often, and this stay kind of surprised me (in a good way). The bed was very comfortable, location is great, staff were very 'to the point' but helpful when needed. While this isn't a 4 star hotel in terms of amenities, you'd have a difficult time finding a better value in the Bay area. I would definitely stay here again.
